Miley Cyrus covers “Teen Spirit”
Cyrus + Nirvana = nothing good here at all.
*When categorizing this post I literally paused before selecting “Music.”
At first, I thought this was a joke. Then I googled it and still thought it was a joke. But after continuing to google things like “slobstopper joke?” — it looks like this is actually real.

I just wrote (see directly below this post) that Kanye’s “Stronger” has been covered by 30 Second to Mars. After sharing the post on Facebook, it was brought to my attention that The Fray has covered Kanye’s “Heartless.” What is going on? Do I like it? I mean, kind of. I like that Kanye is being covered, but he’s being covered by pretty shitty bands and both have shown that it’s a pretty difficult to translate Kanye’s work.
While The Fray’s cover isn’t nearly as awful as 30 Seconds to Mars, it’s not good.
Kanye is iconic, but these covers just suck.

I’ve already posted this as a response to another post, but it’s just so good (or bad) that it cannot simply stay as a comment. 30 Seconds to Mars, which I always forget is a real band, has covered Kanye West’s “Stronger.” Ok. Now stop and think about that one… think about some of the lyrics (aka “you can be my black Kate Moss tonight” …) and slow them down A LOT. It’s honestly Richard Cheese material… you know what? Fuck it. Just listen to this (I promise, you won’t regret it):

Wayne slams: click here. Win Butler responds: click here then follow the link to Win’s scarpbook.
I love the Flamming Lips, but this outburst was a little off. The Arcade Fire loves their fans. Anyone been to a show and felt like they were treated like “shit”? I don’t think so.
As the title of this post states, Sean Hannity may be a total tool. Just look at a couple of the latest polls on his website which ask what kind of secession they would prefer and if they would support civil war. Wow.

After a stunning and ”commanding performance” by Obama (he addressed the joint Congress on the economy tonight, fyi), Bobby Jindal of Louisiana gave the GOP’s rebuttal. Already, most commentators are saying how horribly he did – I’d agree. Is this really what the GOP has to offer? Palin? Jindal? I mean, come. on.
UPDATE: Video

Michael Steele, Chairman of the RNC, wants to take the RNC to some unexpected places. According to The New York Times,
“We want to convey that the modern-day G.O.P. looks like the conservative party that stands on principles,” Mr. Steele said. “But we want to apply them to urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”
And Mr. Steele, isn’t leaving anyone out, including, he joked, “one-armed midgets.”
Or, as the New York Daily puts it,
New GOP party chief Michael Steele is promising an “off the hook” public relations blitz into “urban-suburban hip-hop settings” in hopes of wooing Latinos and African-Americans.
Can you say “patronizing”?
Daily Kos has suggested that the GOP should see “if Poochie the Dog is available?” … I wonder.
This isn’t exactly a political blog, but sometimes… well, you watch the video. Wowzer.
