How do The Owl Pellets Film Awards work?
There are ten nominees for each of the nine categories. Unlike conventional film awards, there will not be a single “winner” in each category. Instead, there will be three winners in each category: 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place.
How are the top three places in each category decided?
The co-founders of Owl Pellets will rank all ten nominees in each category from 1st to 10th. A nominee ranked “1st” will receive 1o points, a nominee ranked “2nd” will receive 9 points, a nominee ranked “3rd” will receive 8 points, a nominee ranked “4th” will receive 7 points… a nominee ranked “10th” will receive 1 point.
In the event of a tie, a ballot will be sent out to all Owl Pellets contributors with the two nominees. The nominee to receive the most votes gains one additional point. In the event of a tie following contributor voting, the co-founders will deliberate on the subject until a winner can be established – the “winner” will gain one additional point for the victory.
The nominee to receive the most points in a category will achieve a 1st place spot, and so on until 3rd place.
