It’s Sunday night and I’m a bit bored so surfed my way over to Rotten Tomatoes and I was suprised with what I found.

Rotten Tomatoes is celebrating its 8th Annual Golden Tomato Awards, which basically means the website has a list of the top reviewed movies of the year.

The best reviewed film (wide release) of 2006, according to Rotten Tomatoes, was Casino Royale with a 95% approval rating. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Casion Royale, but best film of the year? Come on. How did Casino Royale get a better rating than The Departed; or Borat; or The Descent; or V for Vendetta. I guess its all relative considering Talladega Nights got better reviews then Babel. It kind of makes you lose faith in the whole system, doesn’t it?

yeah, but you’ve gotta take into account expectations and also the overall film rating, which can differ from the percent quite a bit. i mean, for babel to get a good review it’s got to push the envelope, for talladega nights to get a good review it has to only be mildly funny.
