Starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei, and Albert Finney. Written by Kelly Masterson. Directed by Sidney Lumet.

Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead is an original story about two brothers who plan a robbery of their parent’s jewelry store, which when it goes terribly wrong catapults a wild series of events. There are many reasons to see this, 1) it’s one of few films to be released this year that’s not an adaptation, 2) the acting is incredible, 3) Sidney Lumet is the director, and 4) it’s not getting the attention it deserves. It looks to be one of those rare films which seems to get overlooked at every turn. If you’re lucky enough to have it playing near you, please go see it! If it’s not playing near you, keep an eye open for the dvd next summer. *And FYI, the trailer, like all the recent films we review, is in our “featured trailers” section*
