The Dark Knight gets kicked in the balls by The Oscars

Well, the Oscar Nominees have been announced and I. am. pissed. To be perfectly fair, I have only seen a handful of “Oscar contenders” as of the moment, but what the hell happened? The Dark Knight got served: no Best Picture Nomination, no Director Nomination, no nothin’. effff.

Sometimes I feel like Oscar and I need to go to couples’ counseling… Why? Because I hate him.

the academy really needs to stop handing out lifetime memberships, they’ve ended up with so many older voters who seem to be completely out of touch. honestly, 10 years from now the reader (which i’m assuming took the dark knight’s 5th spot) and frost/nixon will probably be completely forgotten, yet the dark knight will probably still be considered a groundbreaking classic. so ridiculous. not to mention bruce springsteen not getting nominated for best song. how the hell did that happen? it’s nice that m.i.a. got a nom, but the springsteen snub is just baffling. also, no woody allen or charlie kaufman for best original screenplay? i guess the latter was expected, but wasn’t woody considered the frontrunner up until he failed to get nominated?

on the bright side, the dark knight did get 7 nominations, which is quite a bit except for them all being minor categories. it’s pretty upsetting to see ron howard get a director nomination over christopher nolan, that’s just insane.

yay for in bruges and michael shannon though. those were nice surprises.

    I completely agree.
